Kingsville Couple Reports Losing More Than $200,000 in Online Investment Scam

October 2, 2026

Ontario Provincial Police are investigating after a Kingsville couple reported losing more than $200,000 in an alleged cryptocurrency investment scam.

The couple contacted police on September 19. They said the losses occurred between July and September 2026.

According to police, the couple responded to an online investment advertisement they saw on a popular communications app. They believed their money would be invested in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrency.

Investigators say the couple was promised high returns. The report does not identify the app, the purported investment platform or the person who received the money.

The couple became suspicious when the person they were dealing with demanded additional funds. They then contacted police.

The OPP has not released further details about the investigation or reported any arrests.
