Two Charged Following Fraud Investigation into Ajax Soccer Club

October 9, 2026

Durham Regional Police have charged two former Ajax FC Soccer Club employees following an investigation into alleged financial irregularities of more than $650,000 between early 2023 and 2024.

A financial investigation involving Ajax FC Soccer Club has resulted in charges against two people who previously held senior positions with the organization. The investigation began in December 2024 after reported irregularities involving transactions connected to the soccer club’s bank accounts prompted the Durham Regional Police Service Financial Crimes Unit to examine the matter.

Investigators reviewed several years of financial records and banking activity as part of the inquiry. Police allege that more than $650,000 in league funds was transferred from the Ajax Soccer Club account into various other accounts during a period spanning early 2023 through 2024. The allegations have not been proven in court.

Police identified the accused as 50-year-old Vicki Scott of Whitby, who had served as the club’s Executive Director, and 47-year-old Richard Karikari of Ajax, who had worked as General Manager. Scott has been charged with fraud over $5,000, laundering proceeds of crime and breach of trust.

Karikari faces charges of fraud over $5,000, possession of proceeds of crime and breach of trust. Both accused were released on undertakings following the laying of charges. The allegations will be addressed through the court process.
