A Brampton woman is facing 39 charges after police alleged that renters were defrauded of more than $60,000 through fake residential listings posted on social media.

Peel Regional Police said residences, including basement apartments, were advertised for rent between May 2025 and February 2026. Prospective tenants allegedly signed rental agreements and paid deposits covering the first and last months’ rent.

Police said the victims discovered the properties were unavailable when they arrived with their belongings. In several cases, the renters had already left their previous homes and were left without accommodation.

Investigators have identified 17 cases with combined reported losses exceeding $60,000. Police said none of the victims received the promised housing or had their deposits returned.

Savreet Kaur, 27, was arrested on July 13 and charged with 38 counts of fraud over $5,000 and one count of obstructing police. The allegations have not been proven in court, and the investigation remains ongoing.
